“Your cancer has returned,” is any cancer survivors worst nightmare. Personally, I’m not sure what I fear more, the cancer or the chemo treatments. Regardless it’s a diagnosis I dread to ever hear again. I know I can only control how I treat my body so I try to maintain a healthy weight and take care of body through good nutrition, exercise and meditation.
With Colon Cancer Awareness month starting I’m going to be focusing on all things wellness for the month of March!
I believe there is nothing better for cellular regeneration than flooding my body with essential vitamins and minerals derived from blended fruits and veggies. So I thought I would start off Colon Cancer Awareness month by sharing some of my favorite smoothie recipes. These are all super easy, only consisting of 5 ingredients or less, and they’re the tastiest way to start your day.
(And remember Friday, March 1st is Dress in Blue Day so find your best hue of azul and hashtag a pic! #DressinBlue or #BlueforBarb)
Enjoy!
ORANGE YOU DELICIOUS
Vitamin C is so important to incorporate into your diet especially if you’re trying to fight off any nasty bug! This smoothie is for those OJ lovers who want to add a little more “umph” to their usual glass of juice.
Ingredients:
1 Cup Almond Milk
1 Cup Frozen Mango
1 Banana
1 Orange
LET GOJI MY SMOOTHIE
For those of you who have a sweet tooth, these goji berries will do the trick! This is a spin on everyone’s favorite classic -- the Strawberry/Banana smoothie. Adding the goji berries and coconut flakes help take it to a whole new level of delicious.
Ingredients:
1 Cup Almond Milk
2 Tbsp Goji Berries
½ Banana
1 Cup Strawberries
3 Tbsp Coconut Flakes
LEAN GREEN MACHINE
The name says it all..! Since this smoothie has protein powder in it, I add spinach and cucumber to make sure there is no powdery texture left behind. I am a big believer in adding protein to my smoothies -- especially if I know I am going to be having an active day!
Ingredients:
1 Cup Almond Milk
1 Cup Spinach
½ Cucumber
1 Banana
1 Scoop Vanilla Protein Powder
GREEN MEANS GO
For those of you on the go, go, go, this smoothie is your green light! This one is sure to fill you up and keep your “hangry” monster at bay. I use cashew milk because it makes for the creamiest texture.
Ingredients:
1 Cup Cashew Milk
2 Kale Leaves
1 Cup Frozen Blueberries
½ Frozen Banana
