This year we’re going from tail-gate to home-gate with safe, fun amp; festive ways to make game day unforgettably unique. This is my third year in a row sharing my favorite Super Bowl entertaining tips on the TODAY Show with Hoda and Jenna. AND— this year it’s all about the Bucs the Chiefs! Some of my favorite signature Tampa Bay; Kansas City products and recipes are detailed below, and these will get you in the Super Bowl spirit.
A fun way to bring the gang together in spirit is with these big cutouts from Shindigz (Hoda and Jenna) and Fat Head (Mahomes and Kelsey). They have some of the best party and sports fan resources.
Now let’s get down to the food! Themed food is always a win for my super bowl get-togethers, and ribs are definitely on the menu this year with the Kansas City Chiefs playing again. Joe’s Kansas City Bar-B-Que makes the most tender and delicious ribs (below). The best part?? They will ship right to your door. I like to serve mine with sauce options and The Kansas City BBQ Store has some great options. AND— how fun are these Kansas City Themed “Cannonball Rice Krispy Treats”. It’s a perfect dessert to include the kids to help make it.
Cuban Sandwiches are a staple in Florida, and they are a must for Tampa Bay Buccaneers fans. I’m serving mine on this wooden sushi style pirate ship (above). Another easy grab and go item are my jello cups that I layered with team colors.
For adult beverages I love to create themed cocktails with local ingredients so that everyone feels like they are right there at the game in person. I’m serving two delicious libations that suit whichever team you are pulling for. Recipes for two easy cocktails below:
Tampa Bay Buccaneers Pirate Punch Recipe (above):
2 oz pineapple juice
2 oz blood orange juice
1 oz Tampa Bay Gasparilla Spiced Rum
1 oz Tampa Bay Gasparilla Dark Rum
½ lemon juice
½ oz simple syrup
Shake of biters
Pour all ingredients into a shaker. Serve chilled over ice. Garnish with a Buccaneer flag and plastic sword with cherries.
Kansas City Red Kingdom Cocktail Recipe (above):
J. Rieger Co. bottles a signature Red Kingdom cocktail that includes J.Rieger Co.’s Kansas City Whiskey, spiced apricot, and tart cherry soda.
Serve this over crushed ice and garnish with a lemon or lime.
Everyone knows that the Super Bowl commercials are some of the best entertainment around, and people still talk about the half-time show and fun commercials for days and weeks after the big game. This “Commercial” bingo game is perfect to keep your gang entertained.
Cheers to celebrating the Super Bowl at home this year, and may the best team win!
XO, Barbara
