During quarantine, video chatting like Zoom and Google Hangouts are the new normal for hosting parties. I’ve sourced some of the most user-friendly games that your “virtual” party guests are going to love!!
Pictionary
-split into two teams and assign team captains (they will be in charge of sending the topics to the “drawer)
-To use Zoom’s whiteboard, you’ll want to click the share screen button located in your meeting toolbar,
-select the whiteboard, and click share.
-You should then see annotation tools that will let you use your mouse to draw as you would for Pictionary.
-The last feature to be aware of is the chat box. When you’re the “drawer”, the captain from the opposing team will type the prompt for you to draw in a direct message that only you can see. So make sure you have that screen open on your computer.
-the team captains will be in charge of coming up with the list of topics for the game (here is a great Pictionary word generator! https://randomwordgenerator.com/pictionary.php)
-when it’s not your teams turn to be guessing, your team should all be muted
-You can take turns sharing the screen’s whiteboard depending on who’s turn it is, and you can put some in charge of keeping time for the person who is drawing
Cook Club
-Get someone on zoom that makes your favorite recipe - maybe Grandma, and she finally teaches you how to make her secret recipe cookies.
-You follow along on Zoom looking and baking alongside.
-this can be done with as many people as you want!
Scavenger Hunt
-Who said you can’t hold scavenger hunts while social distancing?
-Simply pick a judge, make a list of common household items, and get started.
-Scavenger hunt works by calling out the name of a common household item and watching your friends scramble to find and get back the item to you in time.
Jackbox Games
-a variety of individual games and games packages for sale.
-Packages include bluffing games, drawing games, fill in the blank, sound effects and trivia.
-Jackbox can be played over every device going from laptops to game consoles, phones to desktops.
-I have a kid in High School, Middle School and Elementary School and our families favorite game was “Drawful”!
Freeze or Dance tag
-host plays music and acts as the referee
-tells all guests to start dancing
-host pauses the music and whoever is still dancing and doesn’t “freeze” is out!
Simon Says
-host is Simon
-“Simon says...touch your nose” etc
-when guests mess up they are out
-all guests participate until only one winner is left
Kitchen Connect
-Basically a virtual version of chopped

-Meet at least 3 chefs in Zoom. Choose a chef to be the Head Chef. They will write down a list of ingredients each chef has available either in the Chat function or on a separate document through the Share Screen function.
-Work together to find one ingredient every chef has in common.
-Chefs are encouraged to visit the website “Super Cook” (https://www.supercook.com/#/recipes) to find a recipe with their available ingredients.
-Every chef will then cook their recipe that incorporates the one common ingredient, with their screens on, allowing everyone to watch and interact in the kitchen.
-Chefs will show off their creation to the Head Chef, who gets to choose their favorite!
